What to Do When You’re Not Getting Hot Water in Your Home
The plumbing system in your Alhambra, Illinois, home is important for your health and well-being. Are you having trouble getting hot water in your home? Read on to learn more about what you should do if you don’t have hot water in your home or your hot water isn’t hot enough.
What to Do If You Don’t Have Hot Water
If you don’t have hot water at all, the thermostat on your water heater may not be faucet. If the burner (in a gas water heater) or electric heating elements don’t turn on, contact the professionals at Den-Son Inc. Cooling & Heating.
If you have a gas water heater, a malfunctioning pilot light may be the problem. To check, remove the metal cover at the bottom of the heater. Follow the directions on the side of the tank to relight it. If you have an electric water heater, check the circuit breaker to make sure the electricity is on. If neither the pilot light nor the electricity is the issue, contact Den-Son for help.
What to Do If You Don’t Have Enough Hot Water
You may not be allowing cold water enough time to heat properly. Using hot water in several appliances at the same time — such as the dishwasher, shower, and washing machine — can use up all the water in the tank before it has time to reheat.
Think about the size of your water heater. If taking one long shower or running two appliances at the same time is exhausting the supply, your tank is likely too small. Our Den-Son team can help you properly size a new replacement water heater for your home.
